The "Come on Baby Light My Fire" Collection
Metal That Still Has Work to Do
A flat round tin tin doesn't retire — it reinvents itself.
At the heart of this collection is the Tanka Reusable Firelighter: a first-of-its-kind innovation built around a recycled tin fuel tank that would otherwise be discarded. Instead of ending up in landfill, that tin becomes the core of a precision firelighter — one that uses wicking technology, stores completely dry, and is guaranteed to provide years of use.
It's a small object with a big idea behind it: that metal, properly respected, doesn't wear out. It just changes purpose.
Why the tin tank matters
- The tin fuel tank is the engine of the Tanka — robust, recycled, has no seams and is easily replaceable
- Stores dry between uses, making it safe, travel-friendly, and airfreight-safe
- Compatible with paraffin, used cooking oil, diesel, or blends — including waste fuel you'd otherwise throw away
- Just 30ml of fuel lights a fire — that's 33 fires from a single litre of paraffin
- One tin, one purchase, years of fires
The handmade fireproof wick is cast in reused atchar containers using rainwater. The bucket is reusable. The fuel can be your leftover cooking oil. Every element of this product is a deliberate act of resourcefulness.
Upcycled metal. Uncompromising performance. Made in South Africa.
